Adium for Mac and Microsoft Lync

So for a while now there has been a bug in the SIPE plugin for Adium on the Mac that prevented Adium from connecting to MS Lync servers. Bug is documented at

    Hi there. Thanks for your post. I’m stuck and wondering if you could help me out.

    I’ve got Adium (1.5.10) installed on MacBook Pro (OS X v10.6.8) and have installed the SIPE plugin (actually I have both 1.18.0 and 1.18.1 showing in my Xtras Manager > Plugins window). But from here, I have no idea what to do. I don’t see a Lync/OCS option to work w/ in my Accounts?

    Any recommendations? Next steps? I’m not sure what I’m missing.
